The Herbst orthodontic appliance stands out as an exceptional fixed functional device, specifically designed to address and correct skeletal Class II malocclusions. This versatile appliance is available in several configurations, including those with stainless steel crowns, Rollo Bands, bands, and/or acrylic components. The extent of mandibular advancement and the degree of bite opening are determined by the specific needs of each case and the chosen appliance design.
A notable feature of all Herbst® designs is their ability to be reactivated; by utilizing precut “shims” or “spacers,” additional mandibular advancement can be achieved as needed. This adaptability makes the Herbst appliance a highly effective and customizable solution in orthodontic treatments.
